Mr Stenvens, who served in Alsaka as a U.S. senator for more than half a century, recently is charged in scheme to hide gifts of oil firm.Mr. Stevens is regarded as a nearly heroic figure in Alaska, where he is often called Uncle Ted, and played a crucial role in its achievement of statehood, which became official in 1959. he denies those charges, said" I am innorcent with these charges and intend to prove it
